Taft have developed a Website Privacy and Security policy because we want you to feel confident about the privacy and security of your personal information. For reference to the overall Taft policy please refer to www.taft.com.au and click on Privacy Policy. This document refers to the privacy and security of your data for Taft only.
The Use of Personal Information
As an Taft customer we ask you to register for your on-line account. This registration involves providing personal information such as your name, address and contact details (telephone, mobile and e-mail). Additional details concerning your Taft account are requested, and it is advisable to provide this information if you want help with an enquiry which may involve other Taft products and services.
When you register, any details you provide will be stored for use on future visits, as we do not want you to give us any information more than once. Indeed by giving us this information we are also able to make your purchasing as quick and smooth as possible, by pre-populating fields.
The personal details will be stored as "Customer Details". The details you give us will enable us to:
a) Deliver products and services to the correct recipient.
b) Receive payment for Taft products purchased.
c) Continue providing support for Taft products.
E-mail Addresses
At Taft we respect the privacy of personal email accounts and we store your email addresses just as securely as other personal information. We will not send you unwanted email messages or junk mail, and your details will not be passed to ANY organisation beyond Taft without your explicit permission.
If you have consented to marketing activity as part of the Taft registration process we may use email to keep you up to date with news about Taft. If you have not consented we may use e-mail to send you messages about Taft product related issues. If you do not want to be kept informed in this way, please contact Taft Support on 02 4571 2222 or support@taft.com.au.
Disclosure of Information
Taft complies with and is registered under the data protection laws in Australia and takes all reasonable care to prevent any unauthorised access to your personal data. Taft people and those working as agents or contractors of Taft have a responsibility to keep your information confidential and will only use it to offer products and services on behalf of Taft. The personal details that we use to provide or promote our products and services (for example your name, telephone number, or details of the products and services you use), as well as any information taken from you while you are using this website, will NOT be passed to ANY organisation beyond Taft to be used for marketing purposes. Your details may sometimes be shared with Taft contractors or agents in order to provide you with Taft products and services you have requested, but we will make this clear to you in the relevant terms and conditions we give you when you order.
We will also disclose your personal information when required to do so by law, for example under a Court Order, or in response to properly made demands under powers contained in legislation. If there is a change (or prospective change) in the ownership of Taft or any of its assets, we may have to disclose personal information to the new (or prospective) owner.
The time period for which we keep information varies according to what the information is used for. In some cases there are legal requirements to keep data for a minimum period. Unless there is a specific legal requirement for us to keep the information, we will retain it for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the data was collected.
Right of Access to Your Information
When you visit Taft you have direct personal control over information in your on-line account. You can access and change this information at any time in the "Customer Details" section. If you are an Taft customer and want to know exactly what personal information Taft holds on you, you can obtain it. If it transpires that the information held is inaccurate, we will make the necessary amendments and confirm to you that these have been made.
Security
At Taft we are serious about guarding the security of your personal data and the details of any transactions you make. Your account login details are a sensitive piece of information, which can be used to find out information about your Taft products and services. Please be sure to keep this information safe and do not share it with others.
How does Taft protect your data?
When you register details with us, make an order or access Taft account details, we use a secure server. Any data you give us is encrypted using a "Secure Socket Layer" (SSL) session. SSL is an industry standard and is one of the best ways to ensure communications over the Internet is not intercepted. You should be aware, however, that older browsers cannot use SSL. To be sure, and to use Taft properly, you will need Netscape version 6 or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 browsers or above.
Over and above what Taft do to safeguard your privacy and security, there are a number of things you can do to protect yourself from Internet fraud:
(a) Choose a password you can remember but others will not guess, change it regularly, and if you do write it down, keep it somewhere safe and secure.
(b) When you have finished your session on Taft, make sure that you prevent your details being seen by anyone that you do not wish to see them. So, if you have registered and logged in, remember to log off. Clear any "cache" so there is no record of any transactions left on screen - both Netscape and Internet Explorer let you do this. We also recommend you then close your browser so any history of the session is cleared. As further an extra precaution, your session on Taft will terminate if you have not used the site for 10 minutes.
Use of Sessions
Taft creates a "session" when you first access the website. You are assigned a unique identifier that is propagated in the URL as you browse the interface. This unique identifier links you to a set of information that is temporarily stored on our server that contains some of your account details. This is done to quickly identify who you are and to provide some personalisation features. Once you log out, your session is destroyed.
Third Party Sites
Third party Internet sites that you can link to through Taft are not covered by this or the Taft Privacy and Security policy, so we urge you to be careful when you enter any personal information online. Taft accepts no responsibility or liability for these sites.
